Since the first exposure to the Twilight series, women have been faced with the dilemma of choosing a side: "Team Edward" or "Team Jacob." While this may just seem like a movie fad, choosing a side and analyzing why you've chosen that side will tell you a lot about your desires within your love life.
For those not up to speed on these two characters, Edward is very chivarlous. He captivates women with his genuine charm as he professes his love and affection towards his lovely lady any moment he can get. He believes in virtue and bliss. While his rival, Jacob is playful yet masculine. Jacob displays his passionate feelings through words, jealousy, and anger. Let us not forget, he delights in the sex appeal.
We find these characteristics and learn to love some of them, but when discussed, most women automatically side with "Team Edward." So the question is - Why? Why do women pick Edward? Is it because he shows the kind of love we yearn for in a mate? Is he the man we want our spouse to be? Is it because he truly reminds us of the loved one we already have?
And what about the ones who pick Team Jacob. Is Jacob chosen because he's the Mr. Right Now who we want to fulfill every lustful desire with? Are we on his team because of his masculinity? Or is he chosen because some of us have falling so much out of love with love that we don't believe the Edwards exist; therefore, settling for Jacob?
Either way, the choice is yours. You have chosen. Now, you must figure out the reason for your selection and reflect to find an epiphany within your love.
As I think about this , I come to the conclusion, why can't I have a little bit of both?

ReplyDeleteThe reaons I fell in love with the Edward character b/c he displayed true love for Bella. We all need that, we all want that, but somehow some of us still managed to pick a Jacob. We are picky by nature, regardless. Some women even older mature women, like a hardcore, muscle bound, jealous, angry type of guy. They find it to be a attractive/sexy, but once that guy hurts them, they want an Edward, however, still going back to the Jacobs. Men, like an "Edward? are hard to come by, but there are a lot of "Jacobs." I think if you can find a man that has all of the traits and/or qualities women love about Edward and Jacob, you hit a GOLDMINE!
I found my "Edward" (My hubby) and i'm not trading that for the world.
As of right now, I'm not on a team in particular. The world is composed of many "jacobs," which is why women choose them (especially if it beats being alone and for some women, it does). The movie's Edward and Jacob were based on societal norms: good vs evil, cold vs hot, sexual vs virginal. All Edwards and Jacobs do not fit into the typical movie type. Some women may want an Edward who wants to be a stay at home dad, prefers to be sexual (only with his girlfriend), tries to be a little buff. Some women may want a Jacob who is quiet and masculine, cocky but not conceited, playful yet serious. Since men don't always fall into a typical "Edward" or "Jacob," could jamilia be right in asking for a little of both? In the movie, Bella found an Edward and Jacob who had fallen for her. She loves both of them, but Edward more probably because of the reasons you listed in the blog. However, for "us Bellas," God will have to send us our Edward that fits our needs and path in life. Until then, we can fool around with they typical "jacobs" or stay "left in the room screaming and miserable." LOL!!!
